Atmospheric physicist Ulrike Lohmann will take over from Edoardo Mazza as President of the Lecturers’ Conference (KdL). To further develop hybrid learning, the new president aims to focus on the tried and tested peer review process in teaching.

From Monday, 24 August, it's "Mask on!" for everyone who travels in ETH buildings. If required, the posters for the campaign can be printed out.

Safely disposing of hazardous waste

ETH Zurich produced around 130 tonnes of hazardous waste in 2018. Thanks to digital records, the disposal of hazardous waste can now be better monitored, as the Safety, Security, Health and Environment department’s annual report shows.
Making ETH barrier-free
ETH is an open university. This also means that physical limitations should not prevent anyone from accessing ETH. The “Barrier-Free at ETH Zurich” project, which was launched in late 2018, aims to determine which infrastructural facilities still require adjustment to ensure barrier-free access for everyone.

The University Assembly was able to nominate two new ombudspersons for the first time: Margrit Leuthold and Peter Frischknecht, who were subsequently elected by the Executive Board. Memorialising Willy Krek

After a long illness, Willy Krek passed away on 29 August at the age of 56. The biology professor was a key figure in the development of molecular health sciences and personalised medicine at ETH Zurich. The university has lost a passionate researcher and supporter.
Head of the Collegium Helveticum passes away
Thomas Hengartner, Director of the Collegium Helveticum, died on 10 May at the age of just 57. He had taken over management of the joint ETH, UZH and ZHdK think-tank in 2016.
